LOCATION
The Walpurgis Night, an ancient spring festival of transformation and renewal, takes place in the unique setting of the Ellergronn Nature Conservation Center — a place where nature and history come together.
The Centre Nature et Forêt Ellergronn, located about 2 km south of Esch-sur-Alzette, lies at the entrance to the Ellergronn Nature Reserve and is housed in the restored buildings of the former Cockerill Mine. This site unites the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage: once a center of mining activity, today a protected space for nature and history.
The center offers permanent and temporary exhibitions on the history of mining and the unique nature of the Minette region. Several educational trails pass through the surrounding nature reserves, inviting visitors to explore the landscape and its evolution.
Surrounded by the powerful nature of this historic site, together with our partners of the Centre Nature et Forêt Ellergronn, we bring the tradition of Walpurgis Night to life in a truly unique atmosphere.

Authentic Medieval Scandinavian Village
At the end of winter, Northern European communities would gather for a Vårblót, a quiet and respectful spring ritual to thank the gods and ask for protection, fertility, and a good harvest. Fire symbolized purification, protection, and new life, while people shared food and drink, often using the last supplies of winter.
This year, Víkingar ór Asko a.s.b.l from Esch-sur-Alzette brings history to life with an authentic medieval Scandinavian village, complete with tents, a kitchen, and activities for children. Visitors can experience the spirit of the Vårblót, bake bread as early Viking raiders did, and connect with nature and tradition in a unique, immersive way.
Food for the Soul & the Heart
Walpurgis Night marks the turning point of the seasons, a time when life awakens, nature renews itself, and the earth takes a deep breath. In honor of this ancient celebration, we invite you to gather around the fire and share a meal deeply connected to nature.
This year, we are serving a fresh vegetable platter made from organic, locally grown produce, including carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, and more, optionally paired with regional pork, chicken, or lamb cutlets, freshly prepared on-site over a traditional open grill.

A Market of Magic and Tradition
Guided by values of authenticity, care, connection, ancient knowledge, and mastery of artisanal craft, we have invited over ten carefully selected artisans to join us, each bringing offerings that resonate with the essence of this ancient night.
Discover handcrafted creations, magical potions, healing stones, beautiful candles, and other soul-crafted treasures. These stands are not just stalls – they are part of the living atmosphere of a festival that is both timeless and full of wonder.
